Jimmy Muecke (Registered Psychologist)
Meet Jimmy, your partner in therapy. Jimmy’s goal is to help you leave each session feeling hopeful and empowered. With his client-led approach, Jimmy will work with you to address what matters most to you, and won’t push you to discuss anything you’re not ready to tackle. Together, you and Jimmy will design a personalized treatment plan that you feel comfortable and confident in.
He leans heavily into providing an an approach that aligns with your most important goals, where you’ll work together to address the areas you want to focus on.
As a neurodivergent-affirming practitioner, he works a lot with Autism and ADHD, his approach is centred on making your environment work for you, not the other way around. This means you’ll collaborate to identify and implement environmental accommodations and practical strategies that align with your unique needs, rather than focusing on changing who you are. He makes sure to provide an approach that feels relevant, realistic and doable.
He can even provide each session’s action plan to you in writing, to help you remember what to practice working on.
Jimmy often help clients with:
– Overstimulation
– Neurodivergent burnout
– Emotional regulation
– Life transitions
– Habit building
– Procrastination
– Perfectionism
– Self advocacy and boundary setting
– Skill development
As a trained expert in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Jimmy also integrates elements of various other therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solutions focused CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Positive Psychology, and Schema Therapy. Jimmy is dedicated to not only helping you manage symptoms, but also enhancing your overall well-being.
Using a unique approach called Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT), Jimmy tracks your progress with data to tailor your therapy to your individual needs. You can expect Jimmy to be welcoming, empathetic, and non-judgmental throughout your therapy journey. Remember, you’re the expert on your own life, and Jimmy is here to guide you towards a happier and healthier future.
Jimmy focuses on the core principles and foundations of good therapy with his clients, including:
- That you feel heard, understood and respected.
- The therapy focuses on what you want to work on.
- Creating a therapy plan that you feel willing and able to engage in.
- To help you understand and recognise yourself more than you do now.
- Expanding your toolkit for managing what brings you to therapy.
Jimmy’s aim is to one day make himself redundant – his goal is to help you develop the knowledge and skills to cope independently with what you are going through.
